SKILL! was set up by young entrepreneur Patrick Philpott, who started his first business at the age of 16, running networking events in his local area in Hertfordshire & Essex.
The idea for the initiative originated from a talk Patrick gave in a North London school where students were asked to participate in a number of activities centred on the enterprise theme. Seeing students struggling and demonstrating a clear lack of essential enterprise and communication skills, Patrick was encouraged to develop a series of workshops to engage large numbers of students in key skills that are vital to future employability.
Patrick’s extensive experience of event organisation and knowledge of education from a student’s perspective have all informed the SKILL! initiative and its development, thus ensuring a premier form of engaging students in vital skills that will give them a head start in the wider world post-education.
